    Course Description

    The School of Nursing and Health Professions offers a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with an emphasis in Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) providing one-of-a-kind opportunities for interprofessional collaboration. The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) plan of study in the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program prepares registered nurses (RNs) with a baccalaureate or master's degree to function as Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners in the FNP role.

    The Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) prepares nurses (RNs) to design models of health care delivery, evaluate clinical outcomes, identify and manage the health care needs of diverse populations, and use technology and information to transform the field. BSN prepared students can opt to complete a concurrent master’s in Nursing (Master of Science in Nursing), or Public Health.

    As an FNP, you will be trained to conduct comprehensive health assessments, diagnose and manage acute illnesses (with appropriate referral), manage chronic conditions and serve as the primary health care providers in many settings. Students are able to design models of health care delivery, evaluate clinical outcomes, identify and manage the health care needs of diverse populations, and use technology and information to transform the field.

    Entry Requirements

    A completed online application
    Completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master's degree (in any field) from an accredited institution
    Unofficial transcripts from all colleges/universities attended. Your transcripts need to be in the original language of your university, AND in English translation.
    Recommended grade point average of 3.0 or higher
    Three letters of recommendation
    A professional résumé
    Statement of professional goals
    Documentation of RN license
    Certification of Finances form or Letter of Support
    Bank statement(s) that indicate funds for the total costs
