Based on the School of Language, Literature, Film and Visual Culture you can study by research for either an MLitt or a MPhil. Both research programmes draw upon a rich cultural history which includes Romanticism, literature, society and history from medieval times to the current day in Germany and Austria. After English, German is the most widely used language in Europe and staff are native speakers from Germany and Austria. The undergraduate degree allows complete beginners to study at undergraduate level and there are a number of joint degrees available at this level.
The German Drama Group offers you an opportunity to meet German students who are studying in Aberdeen. This improves and widens your language skills whilst putting on a drama production. Graduates go on to various careers which include business, public sector, EU administration, teaching and academia and more.
